Yuba River Hiking and Camping

August 19 - 21, 2011 (Closed)

Join us for a weekend of camping, hiking, and swimming in the Grass Valley area and at the Yuba River. Saga member, Brad Shipley, is offering up his 22-acre oak-forested "spread" in Grass Valley, which offers ample space for camping.

The cost of this trip covers the meals and drinks — breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, lunch and BBQ dinner on Saturday. The camping is free.

Camping Accommodations

  • There is power, abundant fresh running well water, flush toilet
  • Great views out Greenhorn creek, hiking around the land and on abutting BLM 40 acre parcel with water fall

Logistics

Members will provide their own transportation to Brad's place, 15 minutes from downtown Grass Valley, and 3 hours from San Francisco. Carpools will be arranged on Saturday for travel to Yuba River.

Other Information

Hazards: There is poison oak around the uncleared areas of land and on hikes by river. Summer insects are not a big issue but they are here. There are occasional rattlesnakes, but none have been seen so far this year. There is abundant wildlife; however Brad's dogs keep the bad ones at the perimeters.
