Opera in the Park

September 7, 2008

Is it the Battle of the Divas, or just a chance to sprawl on the grass and picnic al fresco with SAGA buddies? It’s both — our annual afternoon in Golden Gate Park with “Opera in the Park”.

Plan to meet the SAGA group at Sharon Meadow in Golden Gate Park around 11:00. (See ) Look for a group with ski poles stuck in the ground. We’ll have some leisurely socializing and lunch, followed by the performance at 1:30.

The concert will feature arias and operatic excerpts by current artists of San Francisco Opera accompanied by the acclaimed San Francisco Opera Orchestra. (Program to be announced.)

This popular San Francisco event is presented free of charge. Please bring a dish to share, and your beverage of choice. Also, bring your own cups, plates, and utensils.

We will sing, play cards, talk about the pending ski season and just catch up with old friends and make new ones. Look for a group with ski poles. Don’t forget to bring: hat, blanket, sunscreen, sunglasses, lip balm and a camera — oh and don’t forget your ski poles!.
