July is the perfect time to visit
Lake Tahoe
. We have reserved 3 campsites at
Meeks
Bay
campground July 21-23, 2006. It is adjacent to the highway and on the beach.
There is a busy day-use area next to the campground for swimming and enjoying
the beach. Hiking and bike trails are nearby. There is also a store and
restaurant nearby at the Meeks Bay Resort. You are welcome to tow a boat or
water RVs to the campground if you want to go water skiing, fishing, etc.
The adjacent Meeks Bay Marina has 2 Boat Ramps,
120 Slip Spaces, Ski Boat Rentals, Canoe and kayak rentals, Paddleboats, water
toys, and accessories, Guided fishing excursions, Fishing Licenses Available.
We are leading a hike to some lakes in the
Desolation Wilderness on Saturday. Others can go boating, biking, or enjoy the
beach. We can explore around
Lake Tahoe
after we pack up on Sunday.

Meeks Bay
SAGA will provide some snacks and beverages upon arrival.
Our Saturday dinner will be a coordinated potluck where each person brings a
salad, a main dish, a dessert, beverages, or snacks to share. We can also cook
breakfasts together if people want to participate. People can make brown bag
lunches for the hike.
The
campground allows 6 people, one vehicle, and one legally towed vehicle per
campsite. We will count on having up to 4 people at each campsite and highly
encourage carpooling to fit up to 4 people in each vehicle, but we will pay
extra to park extra cars if necessary. Two pets are allowed per site, but no
pets are allowed on beaches. CAUTION: bears frequent the area. All food must be
kept in approved containers.
